Local Youth Perform at Benefit Dinner
The March 15 dinner to help furnish the Clarke County Library promises to be a great event for all who attend. Among the entertainment booked is a newly formed group of young Clarke County musicians. The band is so newly formed that they have not yet chosen a name for themselves. The parents of the members jokingly refer to them as the "No Name Band". Let's meet the members!
The lead guitarist is Taylor Mackintosh, 14 of Berryville. Taylor attends Johnson-Williams Middle School and has been playing guitar for about three years now. He participated in his first year of wrestling competition this season and when asked what he likes to do when he isn't playing guitar or helping out on his family farm (Mackintosh Fruit Farm), Taylor replied, "I'm pretty good at sleeping."
Vocalist Addison Peacock is the youngest member of the group. Addison, 12, attends 7th grade at the Powhaten School and has always loved singing. She started taking vocal lessons under Dr. Kathryn Greene at the Shenandoah Conservatory and singing publicly just last year. Addison's other interests include tap dancing and writing.
Sean Potter, the bands drummer, also attends the Powhaten School. Sean is 14 and has been playing drums for about seven years. He likes participating in sports, especially running. He is an avid reader with his favorite type being fiction adventure.
The final member of the band is bass player Warren Campbell. Warren is the band's senior member at the ripe old age of 14 and attends 9th grade at Clarke County High School. Warren is a very active member of the high school where he plays trumpet in the marching band and participates in drama projects. He just finished up his participation in the Sound of Music. Warren has been playing bass for less than a year, but has played guitar for about a year and a half. His other favorite activities include hanging out with his friends and eating.
Under the direction of Todd McDonald, the group is putting together just under an hour of music to entertain guests at the benefit. Todd has worked with each of the guys in the band for up to five years giving lessons and support. Dinner wil be served at 6:00 during the event and the band will begin playing shortly before that. Please come to enjoy a wonderful evening of food and fun that will help us furnish our new library. For additional information, call the library at 955-5144.
