Oh, What a Night!
What a great night! The March 15 benefit dinner to help furnish the library was a great success. A sold-out crowd feasted on pasta while being entertained by the musical talents of young Clarke County musicians and the Handley Library Puppets! Through donations, sponsorships, ticket sales, raffle tickets and beverage sales, the dinner made just over $4500 to help purchase furnishings for the new library building. A great big thank you goes out to all those who helped through labor and donations of money, time and food. A special thanks to John Enders Volunteer Fire Department for donated the social hall where the dinner took place.
The count down continues. The furniture order should be placed by mid-April and thanks to the tremendous support of the community and friends of the library, our new building will have beautiful, functional new furniture. Our last major push is in obtaining the $12,800 grant from Hamburger Helper that will purchase two of the bookshelves needed. If you haven't done so already, please visit the My Hometown Helper website and place your comments in support of furnishing the new library. Detailed instructions can be found in the News By You section.
