Local students Kayla Childs, Dusty Pickett and Christopher Youngs recently represented the area in the 2008 Virginia Cooperative Youth Leadership Conference.

Sponsored by the Virginia Council of Farmer Cooperatives, this year's conference, “It's All About The Member,” gave high school students hands-on experience in running a farm supply cooperative store.

Conducted by several of the state's cooperative leaders, the seminar also provided real-world advice on the day-to-day operations of supply, marketing, farm credit and electric cooperatives.
