County Web site gets facelift
The official cyberface of Clarke County is getting a makeover. In early April, an updated and improved county Web site will make its debut, county officials said this week.
The project has been in the works for several months, said Director of Technology Gordon Russell. The goal is the make the site easier for residents and county agencies to use, he explained
“We wanted to bring it up to a more modern level,” Russell said, noting that agencies will be able to access the Web site to manage their own informational content.
Several agencies with frequent public contact say the Web site will enhance their ability to serve residents.
“If there’s something upcoming, like we’re having an auction next month, I’ll be able to just put it on the Web site for people to see,” Treasurer Sharon Keeler said. “Or if something new comes up, we’ll be able to just post it on there right away.”
“We’re looking forward to it,” Commissioner of Revenue Warren Arthur said.
The revenue office’s information will include tax and other forms that can be downloaded, filing deadlines, and basic information about , for example, personal property tax rates and the pro-ration of vehicles, Arthur said.
“I like the fact that we have more hands-on,” said Registrar Barbara Bosserman, adding, “It’ s going to a lot easier for us to keep it current.”
In addition to updated information on voter registration, precinct maps, polling locations, the election calendar, candidates for office, and frequently asked questions, Bosserman has added a link containing the names of local, county, state, and federal elected officials with guidance to their respective Web sites.
Atop the Web site’s new green-colored home page will be an aerial photo taken from a hot air balloon, which Russell said “emphasizes the natural beauty of this county.”
